Organization and Staff
Mission
The mission of Musicarte de Fort Worth - A Celebration of the Americas is to produce a
free, high-quality, annual Latino celebrationthat promotes the diversity,
vibrancy and life of Downtown Fort Worth; to educate about the cultures of the Americas, promote the qualities of
Downtown to regional and national audience; and to contribute to the
overall quality of life for Downtown Fort Worth residents.
The community ideals
behind Musicarte represent what is best about America—cultural diversity, and the ability to realize and celebrate their dreams for the
future.
Festival Facts
Thousands of people
converge on downtown Fort Worth over six blocks on Main Street
from Second Street to Fifth Street to interact with the Latino cultures alfresco during the season’s fall days. The streets of downtown are filled with fascinating sights and
sounds as more than 100 fine artists, dancers, performance artists,
musicians, exhibitors and food vendors take part in the two-day
celebration. Fifty juried artists line the historical red bricks
of Main Street weaving gorgeous blends of texture and shape, three Pavilions de las Americas feature the exciting cultures, exhibits and demonstrations of Chile, Argentina and Estados de la Mexico, a Mercado Central featuring the new, "Sabor de las Americas, the Sundance Square stage and colorful
characters to create an explosion of color against the
turn-of-the-century buildings and modern skyscrapers of downtown Fort
Worth.
Staff and Volunteers
The Musicarte Steering Committee is chaired by Richard Maxwell of the Fort Worth Transportation Authority. Jay Downie, CFEE, producer of MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival, is the producer. Other Steering Committee members include:
